The goal of this client was to provide a spot to have a fire pit and provide overflow entertaining space off the deck. You may notice that there is no built in fire pit because after discussing the use of the area we decided that the portable option was better here so we would not have that space permanently dedicated to the sole use of bon fires.
It was about 400 degrees when we installed this beauty. The white stucco walls did what white things do, they reflected sunlight…onto us.
Despite working on what felt like the surface of the sun, we triumphed and this front yard patio gives our clients a great space to hang out and watch the kids play and gives them a sense of community as their neighbors join them quite frequently.
This fire pit project was a challenge as the entire patio sits on a major slope. To give reference, I have a picture that shows the structure from behind. The weight of the walls, benches and backrests required a deep gravel base a geo textile re-enforcement.
